EPM 2020/2021 GRADUATE ACADEMIC YEAR ADMISSIONS

2020–2021 ACADEMIC YEAR

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to pursue a programme leading to the award of a Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree in Economic Policy Management in the Department of Economics, University of Ghana.

The Programme, which is sponsored by the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Programme (JJ/WBGSP) and the University of Ghana, seeks to offer graduate-level training in Economic Policy Management (EPM) for middle-level policy managers from African countries.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

Applicants must hold a good first degree (at least a second class lower division) in a relevant field of study at the University of Ghana or any recognized University.

1. SCHOLARSHIP (Limited scholarships will be available this academic year):

1. Applicants for scholarship must have a minimum of three (3) years work experience in the Public Sector
2. Applicants for scholarship should not be more than forty (40) years of age;
3. Applicants must be citizens of Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia;
4. The scholarship package covers tuition fees, research allowance, medical insurance and living allowance;
5. Lectures run from 8 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday;
6. Females are encouraged to apply.

NB: Deadline for scholarship applicants is March 15, 2020.

2. REGULAR PROGRAMME (FEE-PAYING):

1. TUITION FEE:

Details can be obtained from the EPM Office.  Applicants will be required to pay not less than 50% of the tuition fee before the beginning of the First Semester.

NB: Applicants are encouraged to opt for fee-paying since only limited scholarships are available.

2. LECTURE PERIOD:

Lectures run from 8.00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

3. WEEKEND / EVENING PROGRAMME (FEE-PAYING):

1. TUITION FEE:

Details can be obtained from the EPM Office.  Applicants will be required to pay not less than 50% of the tuition fee before the beginning of the First Semester.

2. LECTURE PERIOD:

Lectures for the fee-paying Weekend / Evening programme are held 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays; and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturdays.

4. SANDWICH/MODULAR PROGRAMME (FEE-PAYING):

Details can be obtained from the EPM Office.  Applicants will be required to pay not less than 50% of the tuition fee before the beginning of the First Semester.

2. LECTURE PERIOD:

Lectures run from 8 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

HOW TO APPLY:

1. GHANAIAN NATIONALS APPLYING IN GHANA:

University of Ghana application e-voucher can be obtained for GH¢200.00 at the following banks: Zenith Bank, Universal Merchant Bank, Ecobank, HFC Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank and Fidelity Bank. Applicants should follow carefully the instructions on the voucher when completing the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.

• Applicants who did not graduate from the University of Ghana must submit the following documents online (scan and attach):

5. Bachelors’ Degree Certificate and Transcript. The transcript should be scanned into one PDF or Word document and attached to the application.

• Applicants who graduated from University of Ghana should scan and attach only their Bachelor’s degree certificates to their applications (NB: No application will be processed without the certificate).  The originals will be required during interview.

• The pay-in-slips together with applicants’ certificates and transcripts should be scanned and attached to the application form before submission. The transcript should be scanned into one PDF or Word document and attached to the application.

NOTE:

• All applicants must upload their CV with their contact numbers on the online application system;
• All applicants must print a copy of all application materials and submit to the EPM Programme Office;

• No application will be processed without proof of payment of the application fee;
• All applicants who graduated from the University of Ghana from 1996 to date should indicate their ‘Student Identity Numbers’ on their forms before submission;
• Three referees’ reports are required from all applicants (provide the details of the referees online).
• Applicants must ensure that their on-line applications are correctly filled and receipt acknowledged on submission;
