THE MASTER OF ARTS ECONOMIC POLICY MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

                INTRODUCTION

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Economic Policy Management (EPM) is a 12-month graduate level programme being offered by the Department of Economics, University of Ghana. The objective of the Economic Policy Management (EPM) Programme is to develop a critical mass of economic policy managers/analysts to advance the development of Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa at large. It aims at offering graduate-level training in Economic Policy Management for individuals at various stages of their careers. The EPM Programme thus aims to widen the understanding and appreciation of economic policy issues.

The Economic Policy Management Programme is offered in seven countries across Africa, namely, Cameroon, Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ivory Coast. The Ghana EPM Programme has been running since 1998 and has churned out many graduates some of whom occupy very high management positions in both local and international institutions. In Ghana, many of our graduates have served and continue to serve in senior government positions, such as Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Senior Public Servants, Senior Corporate Personalities, and in various private and public sector capacities. These individuals are contributing effectively to the development of their respective economies and the global economy in general.

Initially, the EPM Programme was sponsored by the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and the World Bank (JJ/WBGSP). However, since 2016/17 it has been incorporated fully into the University of Ghana as one of the Special Programmes on offer. It is therefore a full fee paying, self-financing programme of study.
